Tomorrow is my very first Mother’s Day. No… it’s my first Mother’s Day as a mother… It’s my 27th Mother’s Day in life.

I’m very excited.

Some people say “every day is a Mother’s Day” like “every day is a Valentine’s Day”. If you’re valued as a Mother, or as a Lover, then you should be celebrated and valued every day not just on one day of the year.

True. But I like buying presents, and I like getting presents, and I like having an excuse to celebrate either my relationship, or my mother, or in this case me! I achieved something amazing getting my child out of my body! Admittedly it took two midwives, a surgeon, and a large collection of nurses, but still. I grew her, I got her out, and I deserve celebrating!

Fortunately I have a husband who recognises the significance of this day and either wants to celebrate it appropriately, or daren’t do other wise. I have waiting for me a present from the dog for being a good mistress, a present from him for raising his daughter, and most importantly a present from Miss Rose for being a good mummy. I also have it on good authority that flowers are going to be delivered. I say good authority, he allowed me some “time alone to shop” whilst he surreptitiously slunk into Crazy Dazies with his mate Jimmy and came out looking pleased with himself. It’s either me or his mum who’s getting flowers… and I hope it’s me!

Several of my friends are having their first Mother’s Day tomorrow, and others are having their “future” mother’s day. Others still have had several but it’s still special, and my mum has had 27 and is still excited!

I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day whether it’s your first or your fiftieth, because you’ve achieved something wonderful by raising a child!
