Do you ever have those moments where you truly wonder if you’re losing the plot? That your grip on reality is shaky and you have the potential to slip, spinning down the rabbit hole?
I am blaming tiredness but its possible I need a referral.
I woke up and felt Miss Rose lying half way down the bed under the duvet and panicked. She shouldn’t be under the duvet! I couldn’t even remember getting her into bed with us, why had I done that? She has her own room now… She must have been poorly. If she’s poorly she definitely shouldn’t be down the bed! I reached down and pulled her up, checked she was breathing then in relief gently settled her on her back next to me, kissed her head and cuddled up to her.
Well, she started to crawl off. Obviously in my panic I had woken her up and she thought it was getting up time. I pulled her back again but then remembered I had left our bedroom door open to make sure I could hear her in her bedroom in case she cried. Well of course, if the door was open she might crawl off, slide off the bed, crawl out then go down the stairs, which she can’t do, so she was obviously going to die. I quickly hopped out of bed and gently shut the door. Then I retrieved the fluffy pyjama wearing baby and settled her back down with a cuddle and a kiss, and stroked her tummy with a gently shhh.
A couple of hours later I woke up again, hearing Miss Rose cry. I couldn’t feel her in the bed next to me! She had gone! I felt around in a panic then felt a fluffy lump by my feet under the duvet. I cried out then flung back the duvet and grabbed at her…
Then felt myself wake up a little more.
I was clutching a somewhat disgruntled small, ginger dog and Miss Rose was still crying in her bedroom.
Clearly I am a lost cause.
