Tonight is a significant situation. It will be the first time Miss Rose is put to bed without me there. Her daddy did a few nights when we stopped breastfeeding to get her used to not having boobs there at bedtime, but I was always in the house and could hear everything. Miss Rose is 14 months old and I’ve never left her. I’m terrified.
It’s for a good cause. This afternoon is the funeral of someone very important in our lives, followed by the wake. There is no way we want to leave early, as paying our respects and supporting his son means the world to us. So, at 2, we are dropping Miss Rose to my mum and she’s taking over.
Miss Rose adores her granny. Completely worships her. As soon as she sees her she waddles forward at one heck of a pace, arms outstretched, shrieking in delight. There are frequent cries of “Ahgi! Ahgi! Ahgi!” And screeches of anger if granny doesn’t appear. So in theory it will be fine.
However… It does require Granny to follow Miss Rose’s routine… Which is something of a question mark over the whole situation. I am writing times and instructions down for her and keeping fingers crossed that it’s kept to at least vaguely, but myself and Rose get our headstrong, stubborn, tempestuous natures from somewhere and my mum does not enjoy being told what to do.
So… Let’s see how it goes. Wish us luck!
