My first Mother’s Day was a joyous affair. I was treated like a queen by my husband, and had a day filled with love and happiness. My second Mother’s Day has been somewhat different.
Miss Rose and I have still enjoyed a day of love and laughter, but in the absence of her father it has also felt strange.
A beautiful bouquet of flowers was delivered yesterday with a card “to my wonderful mum, love Rose” and I was immensely grateful to be remembered as in all honesty I wasn’t expecting anything. I was truly touched.
We spent the day with my beautiful mum, Miss Rose’s beloved Ahgi, and visited my grandmother. Four generations in one room. Three generations of mothers. Gatherings like that are so special, especially on Mother’s Day, and are occasions I will ensure Miss Rose sees photos of and hears stories about in the future.
Three generations of mothers. Three women with experience and stories, successes and failures, happiness and heartaches. A room filled with mother’s love, and so much of it poured over one tiny girl. One tiny, very lucky, girl.
I don’t know what will become of Mother’s Days in the future. I don’t know where we will be or who we will be with, but I do know that Miss Rose, my mum, and me will celebrate. We will laugh and we will love, and with those things in a day you know it will be good.
Happy Mother’s Day x
