My best friend is pregnant. This is a subject of great delight to both me and Rose.
Well… it will be great delight to Rose. At the minute she just doesn’t understand why her mother keeps rubbing her aunty Aimee’s belly and jiggling with excitement.
Since we were little children, Aimee and I have been broody. Having a baby has been a focal point of our lives. A goal above and beyond all others.
We got married the same year, but, whilst I was able to conceive very easily both times (the first resulting in a miscarriage), Aimee wasn’t so lucky. However, after stress, loss, and worry, she is finally pregnant. This is a baby that has been longed for her entire life, and loved before it was even conceived. It is a lucky child.
I am a couple of years older than Aimee, and Miss Rose will be a couple of years older than this baby. I have known Aimee her whole life, Miss Rose will know Aimee’s baby for it’s whole life. Mine and Aimee’s parents are friends, Aimee and I are friends.
There are some things in life that just make me smile so much, and this is one of them.
As they are not going to find out the gender, I am having a quite marvelous time in coming up with “interesting” names. Apparently “Thor Archimedes” is not an appropriate name. Neither is “Hulk Agamemnon”. The names get more creative and fun the longer I go on for until we are both in hysterical giggles. Or until Aimee is banging her head against a wall begging me to stop.
I am a super excited aunty. Totally over excited. But it’s awesome. She’s going to be an amazing momma.
Welcome to the club, Aimee!
