A new baby was brought into the world last week, and brought home last night. My little niece Evie.
We live in a pretty hideous world in a lot of ways. Terrorists murdering people, governments murdering people, criminals murdering people. Children sold into sex slavery, women routinely raped as an act of warfare, violent racism rife amongst so many communities.
A pregnant friend recently expressed these evils as a reason she is terrified of bringing her own baby into the world, and I get understand that. When I look at Miss Rose, and held the barely three day old Baby Evie, I felt it. How can we let these precious, beautiful, innocent little lives exist in a world where such cruelties exist?
Well, this is my theory.
The world is densely populated by a high number of assholes. There are violent, angry, rude, cruel, dangerous people everywhere and their numbers seem to be growing as the population increases.
If the mothers who care, who love their babies utterly, stop breeding then we will be left with nothing but these people. By bringing people like Miss Rose, like Baby Evie, into the world we are bringing love into the world. Much needed love. Love, kindness, warmth. We are bringing wanted lives. We are bringing children who will bring sunshine into a world filled with darkness.
Don’t feel guilty for bringing more life into such a dark place. Feel proud. You’re doing your bit to drown out the cries for death and misery by filling the world with laughter and love. Make your children aware of the world’s immense beauty, celebrate the world for the good. Don’t let the bad people win. Fight evil by filling the world with good.
Baby Evie has already brought love into the world with her arrival, and, just like Miss Rose, I believe she is going to continue to bring love and happiness with her as she grows. Fill the world with lives like Miss Rose’s and Baby Evie’s. They’re the lives that will make the world full of joy not pain.
